Week in Review

Considering I spent most of my weekend sleeping, I've been pretty busy lately. Friday night I went to the Bobcats game with the Web team from work and we had awesome seats. We sat on the court with the real VIPs, including NASCAR's Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson, Mugsy Bogues, and Panthers Steve Smith and Brentson Buckner. We could stretch our legs from our comfy chairs -- which we didn't even need to leave to get refreshments. The seats came with a menu you just had to wave to order food. Pretty sweet. Even though we lost the game, the team played pretty well and we had a blast. Kyle provided us with the photos, and I figured I'd attach one to show just how close we were, and the view I had to look at for the last quarter of the game. Kyle, of course, was rather pleased by the sight.

Anyhow, after that I went out for drinks with Tracey and Stephanie. Those were on top of the drinks I had on my boss' tab before the game. I ended up sucking down like three glasses of water for my last two hours at the bar I was so dehydrated -- and most of you probably know how much I hate water!

Then Tracey came by Sat. and showed me her wedding dress (you'll get no details here, it's top secret) and we went to see Brokeback Mountain. I thought it was excellent. Beautifully written and acted, top-notch directing, good cinematography, etc. -- but it was very sad. I could relate to it though, relate to Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhall's character). He spent 20 years hoping and waiting for the relationship to go to the next level, for Ennis to give him what he wanted, but it never happened. His longing and pain were really pallpable. I can't believe the critics are raving so much about Heath Ledger, it was Jake's performance that blew me away. The movie was very moving and I think it has a good shot at Best Picture, but I still think Walk the Line should have been nominated. That was a movie I loved and one that let you out of the theater feeling good about life and love. (P.S., Although Jake and Heath play gay men, they are still way hot cowboys and I could watch them for two hours any day.)

Anyway, I have a big few days ahead. My friend Mike, who I haven't seen since graduation, will be in town Thurs.-Sun. so I'll probably get together with him a few times. Then my best friend from college, Tiff, will be in town with her husband on Sun.-Mon. So yay, happy times!
